Femi Alufa hails from Ijero‑Ekiti, one of sixteen traditional kingdoms within the defunct Ekiti Confederacy of Yorubaland, Southwest Nigeria. As the Publisher and CEO of Ekiti Summit News Media, often referred to simply as Ekiti Summit, Femi Alufa has led the platform into prominence throughout Ekiti State’s public sphere. In April 2025, for example, he issued a stirring Easter message on behalf of the media, urging citizens toward spiritual renewal, agape love, civic responsibility, and national progress.

Femi Alufa is the driving force behind the modern Ekiti Peace Day, also known as the Kiriji Memorial Festival celebrated in conformity with the United Nations International Peace Day since September 21,2019 through the benevolence of Aare Afe Babalola,SAN, OFR, CON, the founder of Afe Babalola University Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD).

This annual commemoration honours the peace treaty of September 23, 1886, which marked the end of the 16‑year Kiriji (EkitiParapo) War and paved the way for unity among Yoruba peoples.

Peace building and Heritage Conservation Activities

Femi Alufa organizes events that celebrate reconciliation and Yoruba unity: cultural performances, reenactments and he is a member ,Board of Trustees, Kiriji Heritage Conservation Trust (KHCT)Imesi‑Ile led by Dr.Florence Folami Adeoye and highlighting the historical value of the peace accord.

Stakeholders advocate for preserving the battlefield sites and establishing a dedicated Kiriji Heritage City and Kiriji war museum to educate future generations.

Through these efforts, Femi Alufa works with team members to revive awareness of Kiriji’s legacy, reinforce narratives of peaceful coexistence, and inspire commemoration across Ekiti,Yorubaland and beyond.

Civic Engagement & Community Advocacy

Femi Alufa also serves as Secretary for a civic committee campaigning to establish a stand-alone Ijero municipal local government for Ijero‑Ekiti since 2021. In July 2025, he confirmed that the committee formally submitted a memorandum to Nigeria’s National Assembly for constitutional review, reflecting years of community mobilization through his press release to the media outlets.
