The enemies thought that it was over. They did not even had a field day!
Pilate said to them ,”You have a Guard ;go your way ,make it as secure as you know how”.So they went and made the Tomb secure , sealing the stone and setting the guard”.(Matthew 27:65-66)
Think about it:hatred and resentment normally end at the grave because the person is dead and no more alive.I love the Man of Galilee,His case is different.The historical truth of ressurection is beyond dispute to any rational and honest mind.
The patriarch Job caught a glimpse of our pre-existent Saviour when he said :” I know that my Redeemer lives’.(Job19:25).
On Holy Saturday,it seems that the Disciples had lost their Master Saviour and Lord Jesus to the cold hands of death after the event of Good Friday.
The Jewish leaders of the day,the Pharisees and Saducees had quieted the opposition .The people on the streets had lost a credible Street leader, miracle worker , a great prophet of Nazareth and a Deliverer whom they hoped would deliver them from the Roman imperialism . Even the Devil believed that he had conquered Jesus with His death on the cross of Calvary.
Jesus stands at as the centre figure of history.His Story is the greatest Story ever told ,from His immaculate conception and birth to His unique death on the cross and His glorious ressurection.
He paid the ultimate price because He knew his Divine mission as He said : ” I am the way,the truth and the life.No one comes to the Father except through me”(John 14:6).
There is no one else like Jesus! Not Abraham.Not Noah.Not Moses.Not Elijah or any great prophets of the Bible or any founders of the Religion like Confucius, Zoroaster,Buddha,or even Muhammad.
He outlived His pallbearer,the event of the Empty Tomb on the first resurrection Sunday morning is there to prove that our Saviour lives.Hallelujah!
The events of the Holy Week is the cornerstone of our Christian’s faith.Jesus’ ressurection surprised everyone and restored hope and victory to the hopeless. “that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ,the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name” (John 20:31).
Finally,my brothers and sisters, nobody lives a problem- free life. Let us be strong in the Lord, and the power of His might. Having Christ in us ,the resurrection and the life is the surest source of hope for our life. Because He lives,we can face tomorrow.It is well with our souls today,with a glorious future and hope.
