Oyebanji Honours Former Ekiti Governors, Names New Government Buildings After Them

Ado-Ekiti — Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, has named newly constructed government buildings after former governors of the state in recognition of their contributions to Ekiti’s growth and development.

The decision reflects Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to promoting unity, continuity in governance, and appreciation for leaders who have served the state with distinction.

Among the facilities is a government building named after the immediate past Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, which is scheduled for commissioning on Friday, July 31, 2026. Another building, named in honour of former Governor Chief Ayodele Fayose, will be commissioned on Monday, August 3, 2026.

A third facility, named after former Governor Engr. Segun Oni, is currently at an advanced stage of completion and is expected to be commissioned in October 2026.

The development follows a similar gesture made by Governor Oyebanji in October 2024, when he named the remodelled Presidential Lodge after Ekiti State’s first civilian Governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo. The facility was later commissioned by the former governor during activities marking the second anniversary of the Oyebanji administration.

As part of the programme, Dr. Fayemi, Chief Fayose, and Engr. Oni will serve as Special Guests of Honour and will personally commission the buildings named after them on their respective dates.

The commissioning ceremonies mark the beginning of another round of project inaugurations across the state as Governor Oyebanji concludes his first term in office and prepares for the inauguration of his second term.

According to the government, the initiative demonstrates the Governor’s determination to complete and deliver all projects undertaken by his administration for the benefit of the people, in line with the Shared Prosperity Agenda.

The announcement was contained in a press statement issued on Tuesday by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode.
