Bamidele Celebrates Former Ekiti Deputy Governor,Prof Adelabu, at 76

The Leader of the Senate ,.Opeyemi Bamidele, has congratulated former Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Prof. Modupe Adeola Adelabu, on the occasion of her 76th birthday.

Prof. Adelabu, who currently serves as Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Examinations Council and former Chairperson of the National Board for Technical Education, was Deputy Governor of Ekiti State from May 8, 2013, to October 15, 2014.

In a birthday message, Senator Bamidele, who represents Ekiti Central Senatorial District, described Prof. Adelabu as “a worthy Amazon, cerebral intellectual, pacesetter, pathfinder, and beacon of light not only in Ekiti but across the country given her achievements in the academic field.”

He stated: “We rejoice with you on your birthday. This is another opportunity to pray for you and wish you long life, prosperity, and greater accomplishments in the years ahead.”

Popularly known as MOB, the Leader of the Senate noted that although Prof. Adelabu’s tenure as Deputy Governor was brief, it was highly impactful.

He commended her contributions to democracy, good governance, and the development of Ekiti State, adding that she carried out her duties with passion, emotional intelligence, and an unwavering commitment to excellence and honor.

He further described her as an exemplary scholar and transformational leader who has distinguished herself in both public and private service.

Prof. Adelabu previously served as a Professor in the Department of Educational Administration at Obafemi Awolowo University. Over the years, she has worked as a consultant to several international development agencies, including the World Bank, United Nations Development Programme, UNESCO, the Department for International Development, and the Universal Basic Education Commission.

During her tenure as Executive Chairman of the Ekiti State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the state recorded notable improvements in infrastructure development, teacher training, and procurement of instructional materials.

Born on May 23, 1950, to Prince Samuel Adepoju Adejugbe and Princess Abigail Opeyemi Adejugbe, Prof. Adelabu is of the royal lineage of Oba Ajimudaoro Aladesanmi I, the Ewi of Ado-Ekiti. She was married to the late Prince (Dr.) Adedeji Adelabu, a descendant of Oba Olamiloye Oyiyosoye, the Ajero of Ijero-Ekiti. Their union is blessed with children and grandchildren.

Bamidele concluded by praying for her continued good health, a sound mind, long life, and many more years of selfless service to Ekiti State and Nigeria.
