APC Senatorial Primaries: Bamidele, Fasuyi, Adaramodu Clinch Ekiti Tickets

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded its senatorial primary elections in Ekiti State ahead of the forthcoming general elections, with Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, incumbent Senator Cyril Fasuyi and Senator Yemi Adaramodu emerging as candidates for Ekiti Central, Ekiti North and Ekiti South Senatorial Districts respectively.

The primary elections, held across the three senatorial districts on Monday, recorded impressive participation by party delegates and stakeholders, with the exercises reportedly conducted peacefully under the supervision of the party’s electoral committee.

Announcing the results in Ado Ekiti, Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee and Chief Returning Officer, Asipa Wasiu Adedoyin, declared Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, winner of the Ekiti Central Senatorial District primary election after contesting unopposed. Bamidele polled a total of 29,586 votes to secure the party’s ticket.

In the keenly contested Ekiti North Senatorial District primary, incumbent Senator Cyril Fasuyi defeated two other aspirants to emerge victorious. Fasuyi secured 14,179 votes to beat former Senator Ayo Arise, who polled 4,868 votes, while Engr. Bamisaye Oladipupo garnered 3,694 votes.

Similarly, in Ekiti South Senatorial District, Senator Yemi Adaramodu emerged winner after polling 12,200 votes. He defeated former Senate Minority Leader, Biodun Olujimi, who secured 7,420 votes, while former House of Representatives member, Hon. Bamidele Faparusi, polled 5,502 votes.
Adedoyin commended APC members and delegates for the peaceful and orderly conduct of the primaries, describing the process as transparent, credible and in line with the party’s electoral guidelines.

Political observers believe the outcome of the primaries has set the stage for high-stakes contests in the state, particularly in Ekiti North and Ekiti South, where influential political figures battled for the party’s ticket.
With the completion of the primaries, attention is expected to shift to the general election campaigns as the APC intensifies efforts to retain and strengthen its political dominance in Ekiti State.
