Hon.Kayode Olubunmi Ojo
Former Chairman, Governing Council, Federal University Oye -Ekiti (FUOYE).
Hon.Kayode Olubunmi Ojo is a role model,peace advocate , business mogul and political colossus of no mean stature in Ekiti State of Nigeria.
Hon.Kayode Olubunmi Ojo is a native of Ikoro-Ekiti in Ijero Local Government Area of Ekiti State.He was born into the illustrious family of High Chief (Dr.) Joshua Akanbi Ojo, the Eisaba of Ikoro Ekiti.
He had his Secondary Education at the Government College, Ibadan and the Federal Government College, Idoani, Ondo State. He also had his university education from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) where he graduated with Bachelor Degree Honours in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in July 1991. Since then, he has been a member of the Professional body of the Nigerian Institute of Engineers and that of the Nigeria Association of Corrosion Engineers and a COREN certified Engineer.
He has worked in several establishment among which includes the following: SALTA Infrastructure and Construction Co. Ltd; Riserclad International Inc, Houston, USA; Atlas International Consulting USA, Inc; Atlas International Engineering Services Limited; CES Nigeria Limited; MECL Nigeria Limited/AMBER RESOURCES JV. He had his NYSC at the Mobil Nigeria PLC, Mobil House, Victoria Island in Lagos State.
As a politician,He was one of the top contenders for the Ekiti State Governorship ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in year 2018.
In 2018,Ekiti State was in fluid political times due to Governorship Election of that year,and the opportunity for emerging political figures to make their mark was considerable . Hon.(Engr.) Kayode Ojo as a Governorship aspirant made great surprises in the progressive politics of the All Progressives Congress ( APC) Gubernatorial primaries of that year.He came third in the primaries that fielded over thirty aspirants and political juggernauts from around the three senatorial districts, his emergence as momentous political leader and possible contender for influence in Ekiti 2018 and beyond is remarkable.
He also contested for the APC Governorship ticket of 2022 primaries. He promised to focused on the area of Education, Agriculture, Health, Infrastructure and Human Capital Development if picked by the APC and elected by the people of Ekiti State as their Governor. He also promised to create more awareness for the young people of Ekiti State to develop more interest in acquiring Entrepreneurial Skills and thereby creating wealth for themselves. He also pledged his total commitment towards ensuring that the State Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) are channeled by him to build a very strong economic and political foundations for the people of the State.
The leadership of APC in Ekiti State once showered encomiums on Hon. Kayode Olubunmi Ojo for his previous support and invaluable contributions to the running of the progressive party and his contributions are so significant that it cannot be wished away or overlooked.
It may appear odd, Hon. Kayode Ojos’ raising his political hand has endeared him to be among the new political leaders in the future of Ekiti politics with his welfare ideas and politics of peace and tolerance. He represents the politics of welfarism ,progressive democracy and peace advocacy who believes in an egalitarian society.
It is in the appreciation of his invaluable services and unwavering commitment to Ekiti State socio – political development and humanity in general that the organisers of the Ekiti Peace Day (Kiriji Memorial Festival) inducted him into the Ekiti Peace Day Hall of Fame 2024.
