Today in History (29 July) Remembering Fajuyi the Great
Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi (1926-1966) occupies a unique,legendary and mythical place in Nigerian history.
We are remembering a Soldier of Peace who died for National unity….
A Great Nigerian Hero and A Soldier of Peace who died in mutiny.
“In celebrating our Heroes,we honour ourselves “.
We will remember him forever ; Lt.Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi (1926-1966),the first military Governor of the old Western region of Nigeria.
He was killed on July 29,1966 in Ibadan along with his guest, the then Head of State of Nigeria, Major General Aguiyi Ironsi.
Colonel Adekunle Fajuyi displayed a high sense of uncommon loyalty, courage and patriotism.
This is why we are still remembering him till today after almost six decades ago.
He gave up his life for the highest code of honour and chilvary.
A man cannot do more than this to his friend and his country.
Continue to rest in peace.Fajuyi the Great Hero.
