POSTPONEMENT OF CHIEFTAINCY INSTALLATION
I write you with mixed feelings and depth of appreciation over the preparation for the installation of my wife and humble self as honorary chiefs of Ibadan Land.
The news on social media, online newsprint, radio and television that the revered monarch – Olubadan of Ibadan – Oba Owolabi Olakulehin has joined his ancestors earlier today is by all means incontrovertible.
Further enquiry from my stable through palace sources further reinforced the situation though it is not customary in Yoruba culture to confirm the demise of a king without due process and due diligence.
I wish to therefore express my gratitude to you all for the support and contribution given in cash and kind towards preparation for the Chieftaincy installation, knowing that it was a huge investment. No doubt, the installation now stands in abeyance till a new Olubadan emerges and if he review such cases favorably and decide to invite the honorary chiefs designate into their ranks and title.
Let me conclude that your worthy commitment and genuine support to the cause is a proof of your good intentions, unparalleled dedication, love and good sense of belonging.
May we continue to have good reasons to celebrate together.
