HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MAJOR GENERAL KAYODE ONI, Rtd
Major General (Dr.) Simeon Kayode Oni (Rtd) is the former Commandant of the Nigeria Army Education Corps (NAEC).He is a favourite personality, role model and benefactor who is very dear to many youths in Ekiti State and Nigeria in general.
He is one of the Ekiti most fascinating heroes of our modern times. General Kayode Oni is a great man of scholastic ability, who is also a great grandson son of Olomofe Otirigijuda of Ijero-Ekiti. Olomofe was a great militant General who becomes a celebrity and a traditional idol in the EkitiParapo (Kiriji) Wars of 1877-1993. Olomofe of Ijero was a military statesman whose fame went through the whole length and breadth of Yoruba land of his time to represent at Kiriji war day war, Olomofe demystified the guns and rendered them of no effect. He reduced warring into humour and pure entertainment.
Dr. Kayode Oni joined the Army and became a Major General in the Nigeria Army and also rose to become the commandant of the Nigerian Army Education Corps (NAEC) from 2001 to 2003 before he retired but not tired.
He attended Lagos Business School and earned a Certificate in Owner Management Programme (OMP),Wehwissenschftlide Diensteller Der Bunderswehr Fur ABC – Schutz Munster, Germany for his Post Graduate Certificate in Disarmament ,University of Sokoto,Sokoto for his Doctorate in Material Science, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his Master of Science Degree in Analytical Chemistry, University of Lagos for his Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Ijebu-Ode Grammar School, Ijebu – Ode for Higher School Certificate, Doherty Memorial Grammar School, Ijero-Ekiti for his West African School Certificate (WASC).
He was an Instructor, Army School of Signals,1973, Nigerian Army School of Education, Ilorin from 1974-1975, Nigerian Military School, Zaria (NMS) from 1979-1988,Chief Research Officer, Defense Industries Corporation of Nigeria (DICON) from 1987-1988,Assistant Director, Research and Development Directorate of DICON, Acting Manager, Research & Development Centre of DICON from 1991 – 1993,General Manager, R & D, Commandant HQ NAEC 2001-2003.He was the Chairman, Ekiti SUBEB from January – May 2007, Chairman, Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (EKSIEC)-2008-2010.
He has been decorated with Forces Service Star (FSS), Meritorious Service Star (MSS), Distinguished Service Star (GSS),Corps Medal of Honour (CMH).He is a member of several professional organizations and has been of great asset to humanity, nation and community services.
