Pastor Akin Alufa
We celebrate a cerebral brother, mentor and titan of academia, Pastor Akin Alufa on his birthday.
Akin Alufa is a seasoned educational leader with over 30 years of experience dedicated to advancing teaching excellence and best practices in international schools. He is recognised as the only PENTA-trained, fully qualified British Schools Overseas (BSO) Inspector in Nigeria, underscoring his expertise in upholding UK Department for Education standards.
Akin Alufa spearheaded the journey of The Regent School Abuja to become the first institution in Nigeria — and among a select few in Africa — to earn an “Outstanding” verdict across all BSO inspection categories in its May 2023 British Schools Overseas (BSO) report.
Under his academic stewardship, over 90% of students achieved at or above UK national averages in English, mathematics, and science, placing them in the top 5% of UK primary schools.
Akin Alufa conducts inspections and provides training aligned with rigorous UK benchmarks, supporting both expatriate and local educators in curriculum delivery, differentiation, formative assessment, and student-centered learning.
Akin Alufa has led webinars for the Council of British International Schools (COBIS), such as “Backward Design: Putting Understanding at the Heart of Learning and Creativity in School Curriculum Design” (Oct 2024), promoting inquiry‑based and backward-design frameworks to enrich curriculum planning.
Akin Alufa had an-depth knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and BSO inspection frameworks.
He is also a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God(RCCG) and also serve as the Secretary, Caretaker Committee, Ijero Development Association (IDA), Ijero-Ekiti.
