A DIRGE FOR OLAYINKA ‘SKIN’ ALUFA
Gone… just like that, our Yinka is gone.
Our hearts are heavy, our tongues tied in sorrow.
The sun refused to rise last night
For the sixth child of eight has fallen.
OLAYINKA ALUFA — bubbly, lively, ever vibrant
Beloved son of the late Mrs. Eunice Mafolayomi,
That strict yet unassuming woman of quiet strength.
And of the late High Chief James Fajembola Wellington Alufa,
The proud patriarch whose name still rings in noble echoes.
Yinka — popularly known as ‘SKIN’
A friend to many, a pillar to his siblings,
A man who lived for others,
Whose hands never tired of giving.
He loved. He laughed. He lifted.
He was a family man to the core.
He fought — yes, he fought — his illness to his last breath.
He wanted life. He was not ready to go.
But heaven had other plans.
Like the young David in the Bible,
Yinka was full of light, courage, and unmatched energy.
He brought warmth to every room,
Charisma in every step, love in every word.
Now, the silence of his absence rings loud in our ears.
If I were to cry, even a thousand buckets
Could never hold my tears.
The Alufa family misses him.
I miss him.
I love you so much, my brother.
Rest well, dear Yinka.
Rest in power, rest in peace.
Burial arrangements will be announced in due course.
Akin Alufa
Chief Mourner
For the Family.
